This Friday, February 3, at 8 o'clock, DAVID FRANCEY performs at May Memorial. Winner of three Juno awards (Canada's equivalent of a Grammy) and the prestigious SOCAN Folk Music Award, David Francey writes songs that are simple and true, but with an emotional warmth and sincerity that give them a profound power. Beautifully crafted and concise, his lyrics unlock the magic hidden in the ordinary. He sings straight from the heart with a passion that is warm, funny, and captivating. His wry humor and astute observations, combined with his openhearted singing style, have earned him a loyal following. Follow this link for a touching video of Francey singing "The Ballad of Bowser MacRae," which won the USA Songwriting Competition for Best Folk Song in 2007. Francey tells the story of how the song came to be and the video features a cameo of Bowser himself. Tickets are $18. Advance sale tickets are available via PayPal or by mail (personal check); advance ticket holders receive preferential seating. For details, see the Folkus Project website at www.folkus.org.
